Return to Civic Decision Engine
Privacy notice
Optional analytics status: Google Analytics loading is enabled only on the query-free home page after a valid affirmative choice. A saved refusal or no choice keeps it off. Microsoft Clarity is disabled.
Privacy and user choice
Access to public civic records and public processes on Civic Decision Engine does not depend on tracking or on your analytics choices. Optional analytics are disabled by default. If CDE enables an optional analytics provider, it will load only after your valid affirmative choice and only on the eligible public pages listed below. You can decline or withdraw your choice without losing public access. Withdrawing stops future loading through CDE’s consent controls; it does not undo information already collected by a provider.
Optional purposes and choices
Civic Decision Engine may use Google Analytics only on the query-free home page: /. All other pages, query-bearing URLs, and protected, administrative, API, record/detail, document, artefact, verification, and authentication pages are excluded.
- Traffic measurement — Google Analytics: measures visits to the query-free home page.
Before CDE enables Google Analytics operationally, it must disable and verify the stream’s top-level Enhanced Measurement control. With that prerequisite met, CDE sends one manual page-view event after consent with a fixed page title, the canonical home-page URL, and an empty referrer. It does not itself emit scroll, outbound-click, site-search, form-interaction, video-engagement, or file-download events. Google Analytics may still generate documented automatic events and process visit and session statistics, browser/device information, approximate location, and a pseudonymous client identifier as described in Google’s documentation.
Google Analytics is not used for individual inference, CDE evidence, or a governed determination. You may decline without losing public access. When optional controls are available on an eligible page, use Privacy preferences to choose separately, change, or withdraw a choice. When providers are operationally disabled, the same entry point lets you read this notice and clear a saved local preference; it does not enable a provider.
Local preference
CDE stores your local analytics choice in browser storage under cde_optional_analytics_preferences_v2. A choice is valid for up to 90 days and is treated as expired when CDE reads it; expiry is not a claim that browser storage is automatically deleted at that moment. Withdrawal, malformed data, or a superseded local value clears the locally controllable analytics state and requires a fresh choice. Withdrawing a choice does not delete data already held by a provider.
Provider cookies and storage
If Google Analytics is both selected and operationally enabled, it may use browser storage. Production cookie names, purposes, domains, paths, Secure/SameSite attributes, and lifetimes remain an observation target; this notice does not invent attributes that have not been captured in a controlled browser check.
Retention, access, and deletion
The controller-confirmed Google Analytics user and event retention setting is two months, with reset on new activity off. Provider-held data is subject to the applicable provider process and retention rules; local withdrawal does not retrospectively delete it.
Controller: Nick Moloney. Requests about privacy, access, or deletion can be sent to nickdebrief@gmail.com. We will assess what data can be identified from the information you provide, use an applicable Google Analytics deletion route where it fits the request, and explain the outcome or a relevant limitation. We will not describe a request as completed until the relevant provider process confirms completion.
Providers and transfers
Google Analytics is provided under Google's applicable service terms. Google may process personal data in countries where Google or its subprocessors maintain facilities. For eligible direct Google Analytics customers established in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, Google's published guidance says that the Google Ads Data Processing Terms are incorporated into the applicable terms. Those terms provide conditional safeguards for applicable European restricted transfers, including an alternative transfer solution adopted by Google or, where applicable, Standard Contractual Clauses. This notice does not state the destination, data centre, subprocessor, transfer safeguard, or Standard Contractual Clauses module for any particular visit.
Microsoft Clarity — disabled
Microsoft Clarity is currently disabled and CDE does not currently load it. Before any future enablement, CDE must verify and publish the applicable purposes, collection and storage details, retention, international-processing information, withdrawal behaviour, and the provider terms relevant to the proposed configuration. This notice does not infer those facts while Clarity is disabled.
